When Discovery Comes Unexpectedly
Life has an interesting way of surprising us.
We often believe we’re in control—of our schedules, our dreams, our plans. But every once in a while, life throws us a gentle curveball, reminding us that some of the best things come unexpectedly.
That’s exactly what happened to Isaac Rubio, a bright, warm-hearted student from Valencia, Spain.
At the time, Isaac was serving as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. His days were full, his focus devoted to service, his future plans still unfolding. But one ordinary day, a message popped up from his sister. She wanted to share something important with him.
So, what did she talk about?
- A reminder to eat more vegetables?
- A picture of her new cat?

“I’ve heard about Cumorah Academy through my sister and was very impressed!” Isaac shared. She had attended the Academy the previous year and couldn’t stop talking about the transformation she experienced—spiritually, intellectually, and personally. Naturally, she wanted her brother to have the same chance to grow and thrive.
That message was Isaac’s first introduction to Cumorah Academy. And though it may have seemed like a small moment—a simple message from a loved one—it was the beginning of something much bigger. Isaac was on the brink of a new chapter. One that would change everything.
A Decision Guided by Faith Led to Personal Discovery
Isaac didn’t jump on a plane right away. Like many life-altering decisions, it took time, reflection, and prayer.
“I prayed and felt that this is the place to go,” Isaac recalls. That confirmation settled deep in his heart, and soon after, he packed his bags and traveled from Valencia to the heart of Europe—to the Czech Republic, where Cumorah Academy’s campus is nestled in the peaceful countryside.
From the moment he arrived, something felt right.
“The atmosphere grabbed me immediately,” Isaac said. “There’s a unique energy here—everyone’s learning, growing, helping each other. It feels like a family.”
Growing in Faith and Language
One of Isaac’s main goals was to improve his English. So he joined the English course, eager to sharpen his skills. It wasn’t just about grammar and vocabulary—it was about confidence, communication, and connection.
Thanks to the immersive environment, encouraging teachers, and supportive classmates, Isaac began seeing real progress. “I’ve improved so much,” he says with a smile. “And it’s not just because of the classes—it’s the people around me. Everyone’s so helpful and kind.”
But Isaac’s experience went far beyond language learning.
He found something many young adults are searching for: a place where he could study, worship, and grow—all in one.
“I love the fact that I can study and worship and learn at the same time here at Cumorah Academy,” he says. “It’s not just about academics—it’s about becoming a better person.”
