One of our recent expeditions took students to Brno, the second-largest city in the Czech Republic. This trip was designed not only to introduce students to the breathtaking sights of Czechia but also to strengthen friendships and foster a sense of community. After all, what better way to bond than by exploring a vibrant city together and creating lifelong memories?
2. Exploring Špilberk Castle and Its Surroundings
Brno may not be as famous as Prague, but it’s a hidden gem for those who love history, architecture, and culture. Our students had the chance to explore one of its most iconic landmarks: Špilberk Castle.
Špilberk Castle holds immense historical significance. Built in the 13th century, it has served as a royal residence, a fortress, and even a notorious prison. The breathtaking Gothic and Baroque architectural styles make it a must-see for history enthusiasts. As students walked through the castle grounds, they admired the stunning views of the city and soaked in the stories of the past.
Beyond the castle, the surrounding park offered a peaceful retreat with panoramic city views, making it the perfect spot for reflection and photography.
3. Downtown Adventure and Scavenger Hunt
Exploring Brno wasn’t just about sightseeing—it was about creating meaningful experiences. One of the highlights of the trip was a thrilling scavenger hunt organized in collaboration with the Brno Young Single Adult (YSA) group. This interactive adventure gave students the chance to engage with local young adults while navigating the city in an exciting and dynamic way.
The scavenger hunt took students through Brno’s historic downtown, challenging them with clues and tasks that tested their teamwork and problem-solving skills. The laughter, energy and friendly competition made for an unforgettable experience, reinforcing friendships and creating lasting connections.
For those who preferred independent exploration, Brno’s charming streets offered a wealth of opportunities. Some students took the time to visit local shops, taste delicious Czech delicacies, and admire the city’s unique blend of modern and historic architecture. Whether through structured activities or free exploration, every student found something enriching in their time in Brno.
