The spirit of community and healthy competition filled the air recently as Cumorah Academy played host to a rest stop for the Načeradec City Bike Race! Sponsored by Načeradec, the race brought together families of all ages for a fun-filled afternoon. Cumorah Academy, committed to fostering connections with the local community, was thrilled to be a part of the event.
The Bike Race
Laurel, an intern at Cumorah from Arizona, described the atmosphere as “casual and fun,” with families enjoying a leisurely ride rather than a high-pressure competition. Kids of all ages, from toddlers to teenagers, joined in the festivities, with an estimated 200 participants visiting the Cumorah Academy stop. Laurel said, “One cool thing about it was that almost none of the people who came spoke English, but we were still able to have fun with the kids even though there was a language barrier. Everyone was still smiling and laughing.”
Treats and Games
Cumorah Academy’s role wasn’t just about providing a rest stop. Students eagerly welcomed the racers with refreshing water, delicious lollipops, postcards, and a variety of games. From soccer and badminton to dynamic hula hoop challenges, there was something for everyone.
Janet, a faculty member from California, shared a particularly entertaining moment when a frisbee and a ball became stuck in a tree. The collective effort of participants and students, with Thiago (a Cumorah student) eventually scaling the tree, encapsulated the spirit of teamwork and lighthearted fun that defined the event. “We all enjoyed watching everyone try to get the toys dislodged — throwing shoes at them, swinging sticks and rackets while jumping, etc. It was a delightful experience — darling, excited children and very friendly adults. I was happy to be a part of it.”
Julia, a student from Brazil, said, “It was a very good experience. We welcomed the parents and children and played games with them. The children had a lot of fun and the parents had time to rest a little. It was a rewarding afternoon.”
Connecting with the Community
The bike race served as a fantastic opportunity for Cumorah Academy to connect with Načeradec. By offering refreshments, games, and a welcoming environment, the Academy fostered a sense of togetherness and camaraderie. The event was a resounding success, leaving everyone with smiles and happy memories.
