A Unique Community at Cumorah Academy
You are unique. Every person is—each with their own stories, experiences, and decisions, intricately connected to others. With that in mind, imagine a day at Cumorah Academy. Students from various countries and backgrounds come together to learn and live side by side. By the end of the semester, they will have a new perspective on both the world and themselves.
The Impact of Perspective
“Our perspective is essential; it shapes our beliefs and drives our actions. Ultimately, our actions are a reflection of our perspective. From the moment Taynara stepped onto our campus, she knew she would return home changed. This young Brazilian was one of the students in the Winter Semester of 2024, and as the semester progressed, she gained insights she had never encountered before.
From the start, Taynara was eager to work on personal projects where she could channel her passion. That’s why she applied for the Business & Entrepreneurship courses, which broadened her understanding and ideas. With her love for languages, she also pursued starting an English course.
During her time on campus, she founded Hawks English School, teaching and sharing her knowledge online. Through the Business course, she developed new ideas for her venture, learning marketing strategies, client relations, and much more.
Upon returning to Brazil, Taynara felt more confident in advancing her project. She regularly updates her methods to retain students and is now skilled in identifying leads, interacting with customers, and growing her business. She credits Cumorah for helping her achieve one of the most important milestones in her journey.
Shaping Goals and Finding Success
Having a clear goal is crucial for any student, especially those in the Business course. As the semester unfolds, students are exposed to new opportunities and ideas. With her goals already in mind, Taynara was able to refine and perfect her project with precision.
“By the end of the semester, I knew exactly what to do with my business,” says Taynara. “For example, I had a script for talking to customers and knew how to effectively post on social media.” This newfound confidence encouraged Taynara to seek new experiences and continue expanding her self-awareness.
Mentorship and Global Aspirations
One of the blessings Cumorah Academy offers its students is the chance to interact with different mentors each week. Having someone with real-world experience in leadership and business is an invaluable resource for today’s generation. As the German philosopher Albert Schweitzer once said:
A good example has twice the value of a good advice.
For Taynara, all the mentors were incredible, but two particularly stood out: Steven and Debbie Farrell. “They taught me to remain loyal to my values and standards. They also showed me how to be true to the Gospel while still achieving success in my field.”
New Perspective, New Life
Her experience at Cumorah Academy gave Taynara the desire to pursue more international opportunities. “At the end of the year, my husband and I are planning to spend a few months in the United States. We attended a few workshops to gather information and we realized this would be the best path for us. Learning and experiencing different cultures will be fantastic for our lives,” says Taynara.
This is just a glimpse of what Taynara experienced during the semester and the lessons she learned. Her commitment to applying those lessons has brought rewarding results in her life. If we want different outcomes, we need different approaches. As mentioned earlier, our perspective shapes our results. Looking at Taynara’s example, it’s clear that her perspective has transformed, and she is now aiming for even greater heights.
