Cumorah Academy’s Esther group recently embarked on a unique service project, journeying to Zoo Jihlava in Vlašim, Czech Republic. This initiative provided students with a valuable opportunity to contribute to their community while deepening their appreciation for wildlife conservation.
Vicky, a member of the Esther group, described the experience as “enriching,” highlighting the impact it had on her understanding of the importance of animal welfare. Witnessing the dedication of the zoo staff and the animals’ well-being deepened Vicky’s appreciation for conservation efforts.
As she put it, “I am truly grateful for the opportunity to be a part of the service project at the zoo. It was an enriching experience that deepened my appreciation for wildlife conservation. I’m grateful to Cumorah for allowing us to witness and support the well-being of these magnificent animals in such a natural and respectful setting.”
The Esther group rolled up their sleeves and put in the hard work, sweeping floors, weeding, and cleaning up the zoo. While the physical tasks may not have been extensive, the project had a profound impact on group members and was a great way for the Esther group to get even closer.
One member of the Esther group, Nikita, observed the zoo staff’s gratitude for “even the smallest service,” highlighting the power of volunteerism and the importance of recognizing the value of all forms of assistance.
This experience instilled in Nikita a desire to serve more. “The service project was amazing, even though we weren’t able to do a lot I saw how the people there were grateful for even the smallest service and wanted to give it back. Because of this, I felt the desire to do more for others. I’m grateful for this project.”
Fostering Change: The Lasting Impact of the Esther Group’s Efforts
The Esther group’s service project at Zoo Jihlava was more than just a day of cleaning and service; it was a catalyst for meaningful change. Beyond the physical tasks performed, this initiative sparked environmental awareness, nurtured a spirit of community service, and cultivated a profound respect for wildlife conservation. Cumorah Academy continues to empower students to become conscientious stewards of their environment and advocates for positive change within their communities.
